I started my training when I was around 16 yrs of age. It was shortly after having a dream of working with young people through Martial Arts. It was such a powerful dream that I got up and wrote it down in the middle of the night and woke up my father at 2 am and told him what had happened. That dream shaped my life from that point on. I started on a journey of Martial Arts training with the goal of working with young people through the Martial Arts. I received my Black Belt and then had the privilege of testing under the very man who brought TKD to the United States and received a fourth degree black belt under Mr. Hwang!
I have been taking martial arts with Mr. Steve Morris for the last ten years of my life. Through his mentorship and training, I have developed a passion and love for teaching martial arts and working with kids. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to teach, train, mentor, and be an example to our students. It is so exciting for me to witness the change in the lives of others as a result of my influence. In my training at TMMA, I gained much experience and skill in martial arts. More importantly, however, I gained endurance, strength, respect, leadership skills, vision, and a desire to serve. It is such a joy and privilege for me to have the opportunity to impact every person in our school (and beyond). My goals include becoming the best martial artists I can be (regardless of my rank), to continue learning better ways to teach, positively influence our students, and impact the community in great ways using martial arts. I am grateful for my past training under Mr. Morris and am looking forward to an exciting future with The Master's Martial Arts!
Hi, my name is Elijah Martian (also known as Mr. Eli). I started practicing Tae Kwon Do with Mr. Morris when I was nine. I have grown in numerous ways since I started, especially in humility and leadership. I have learned so much from Mr. Morris, his little 10 minute talks always send me home challenged or at least thinking. I love how my Journey from white belt to 2nd degree black belt has had several challenges that have given me confidence that I did not use to have. This confidence has served me well and has actually saved me from trouble; so far I have never had to use my Tae Kwon Do, and hopefully I never will.
As an instructor it is my upmost goal to always demonstrate the love of Christ in everything. I want my actions to serve as a testimony to the kids I am working with. It is my prayer that the influence I have on these kids will be a honorable and Godly influence. I want these kids to be challenged but also encouraged and uplifted at the same time. These are my goals through the use of TKD!
My name is Christopher Jackson. I am 19 years old and have taken Tae Kwon Do with Mr. Morris since I was 8 years old. I achieved my Probationary Black Belt at the age of 13, my 1st Degree Black Belt a year later, and I currently hold a 2nd Degree Black Belt. Although receiving all of those belts has been a great achievement for me, the thing that I cherish the most that I have received from going through this program isn’t the belts, but rather the character traits that I have gained: respect, honor, perseverance, obedience, and self-control, to name a few.
I truly love working with the kids because I know that what I am teaching them is not only helping them to grow physically, but also in their character; helping them to become the people that God has intended for them to be. We are commanded by God to go out and make disciples, and I know that by teaching at Tae Kwon Do, I am doing so and am having a lasting impact on the next generation. My favorite part about teaching, and what keeps me motivated to continue, is when I am able to help one of the kids learn something that they were struggling with and watching it all click in their minds and bodies. It really invigorates me and gets me more excited for them than I think it does for them actually!
