I started my training when I was around 16 yrs of age. It was shortly after having a dream of working with young people through Martial Arts. It was such a powerful dream that I got up and wrote it down in the middle of the night and woke up my father at 2 am and told him what had happened. That dream shaped my life from that point on. I started on a journey of Martial Arts training with the goal of working with young people through the Martial Arts. I received my Black Belt and then had the privilege of testing under the very man who brought TKD to the United States and received a fourth degree black belt under Mr. Hwang!
I have been taking martial arts with Mr. Steve Morris for the last ten years of my life. Through his mentorship and training, I have developed a passion and love for teaching martial arts and working with kids. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to teach, train, mentor, and be an example to our students. It is so exciting for me to witness the change in the lives of others as a result of my influence. In my training at TMMA, I gained much experience and skill in martial arts. More importantly, however, I gained endurance, strength, respect, leadership skills, vision, and a desire to serve. It is such a joy and privilege for me to have the opportunity to impact every person in our school (and beyond). My goals include becoming the best martial artists I can be (regardless of my rank), to continue learning better ways to teach, positively influence our students, and impact the community in great ways using martial arts. I am grateful for my past training under Mr. Morris and am looking forward to an exciting future with The Master's Martial Arts!
I truly love working with the kids because I know that what I am teaching them is not only helping them to grow physically, but also in their character; helping them to become the people that God has intended for them to be. We are commanded by God to go out and make disciples, and I know that by teaching at Tae Kwon Do, I am doing so and am having a lasting impact on the next generation. My favorite part about teaching, and what keeps me motivated to continue, is when I am able to help one of the kids learn something that they were struggling with and watching it all click in their minds and bodies. It really invigorates me and gets me more excited for them than I think it does for them actually!
